ZB200

A new concept of piano. the formal reinterpretation of the classic instrument. Eliminates the inconsistencies in the shapes of the traditional pianos.

Shape

The perfect curve of the tail, the tangent edges on the sides that eliminate the conventional inward-curving ‘bentside’, the reviewed keyboard and piano lid, that once were independent elements, are now wrapped in a homogeneous cover to give a seamless and harmonic sense of continuity to the baby grand piano ZB200.

Each piano is a limited edition and each piano is numbered: an investment in art.

Sound

To the formal innovations have been added important innovative interventions from the engineering and structural point of view, which give the ZB200 an amplified sound and a completely new and performing keyboard, it is able to accommodate even the most demanding performances.

Keyboard

The keyboard keeps its classical characteristics but has been carefully studied and modified in order to achieve, for a baby grand piano of this scale, the same dynamics as the grand piano. The result is a completely new and high performance keyboard, even for the most difficult performances.

Materials

No details have been overlooked, including top quality materials and precious woods. The soundboard is made of spruce wood from Val di Fiemme (Trento-Italy), perfect for this production. After a long period of seasoning, each piece is selected and constructed, using specific traditional techniques.

Structure

The main structure of the ZB200 is made from a single block of wood; therefore, the support that makes up the skeleton of the instrument does not interrupt the cast iron conductor as it normally does in the traditional models.

Customize

ZB200 is available in the colours quartz grey mat, cobalt blue, black, white. On demand available in customize colours and finishing.

ZB200 will be available only in 99 unique pianos.

Frame

The cast iron frame has been modified to conform to this new shape, guaranteeing the necessary mechanical resistance. The one piece cast iron frame is entirely made in Italy.

The Designer

Enzo Berti

Enzo Berti was born in 1950 in Pianiga and still lives and works in the area of Riviera del Brenta, in Dolo (Venice). His cultural education is marked by the studies he conducted under the guidance of Alberto Viani at the Accademia delle Belle Arti of Venice. He then attended the Advanced Course of industrial design held at the Faculty of Architecture of Venice. Along the years he designed and created valuable objects of art that are exposed to the public in occasion of major international exhibitions.

His habit of thinking in a holistic way, paying attention to the living environment rather than to the individual object, leads him to partnerships that go beyond the individual project. Since the nineties he followed different artistic directions. Intense collaborations during which Enzo Berti has been working alongside with companies who were looking for a renewed identity or with totally new brands such as Torremato.

Even nowadays Enzo Berti’s projects reveal his artistic roots. He watches the objects as a sculptor would do, looking for the shape that it evokes, or giving it a completely new form by taking a surprising logical leap. He prefers to work with wood, marble, stone and iron, which are evocative and “timeless” materials that he interpret with his modern language, sometimes using it in a revolutionary way.

His essential trademark is the result of a patient refinement process, since his projects always start from a series of colored sketches that subsequently become a technical drawing. It never is an end in itself exercise, but it reveals a deep attention to the practical implications and the past of the object.

An eclectic designer who interpreted a wide variety of brands and different product types while always remaining true to its distinctive and timeless style.
